Approaches to Praxis from a Latin American Perspective The Importance of the Transformation of the State

Abstract

Latin America faces a historical, economic and political process that requires the transformation of the State, this after centuries of imposition of liberalism and decades of imposition of neoliberalism, both liberal thought and institutions have shown their limits, deficiencies and negative effects, how neoliberalism has led to various economic, political and social crises in various countries of the continent. In other words, the citizens, the population, the peoples, the cultures, the civilizations, the ethnic groups, and the nations have become aware of this, which is why they have organized to explain, understand and transform the State. Now, this transformation occurs from a set of praxis product of reflection, theorization, explanation and understanding of the world that leads to raise the meaning of the practice of conscious transformation or of the revolutionary practice, also conscious. The conjunction of theorizing and conscious practice lead to the formation of a transformative or revolutionary praxis. In this article to explain the praxis and the drifts that it has been acquiring in Latin America, the work of a group of authors who have produced their theoretical work from Latin America is addressed, in addition to the analysis of the praxis of the Army of National Liberation (EZLN).
