Confronted with the experience of evil, we must ask ourselves how it is still possible for humans to assert themselves as beings responsible for their actions. The objective of our reflection is to revisit and overcome the objections of Spinoza's determinism and Leibniz's theodicy, in order to reaffirm human freedom in the face of evil. It is at this point that Kant's response proves relevant, insofar as action, although it may be affected, results from a free decision. It is true that there is no such thing as a diabolical being, but man is evil because he himself chooses his own nature.
