The word “trend” in the title of this essay defines our aim, which is to offer readers a general overview of Stoicism. We will therefore consider the system as a philosophical whole, without dwelling too much on the developments and differences that are usually presented between the major representatives and historical periods of Stoicism. We understand “trend” both in the sense of the ultimate goal pursued and in the sense of what contributes to that goal. In order to convey the beautiful unity of Stoicism within the limits of a text such as this, we have chosen to present a few themes, such as a brief historical contextualization of the movement, love for Fate, the theory of knowledge, and the three acts of the soul, themes that necessarily correspond to each other according to the logic of cohesion of this philosophy of totality.
