There is no doubt that postmodernity is a contested notion and that it is still too early to assess the scope of the ongoing debate. We believe, however, that the very concept of “postmodern” has meaning, and that this meaning is linked to the fact that we belong to a culture that has maintained an extremely rich and complex relationship with the Enlightenment for two centuries.
