Abstract

This essay discusses some problems in Pierre Duhem's La Théorie Physique. Son Objet-Sa Structure. Particularly, I call the attention to the notion of "theory", the relationships between science and metaphysics, the critique of the crucial experiments, and holism. Those issues treated by Duhem, who is a physicist, historian and science philosopher, have been very important in subsequent reflections like those of Karl Popper, Imre Lakatos, and Thomas Kuhn.
