Without denying the specific difficulty of philosophizing on the basis of music, the article reports on Charles Rosen's considerations in The Classical Style: Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, following in detail its implications in the field of strictly philosophical ideas. It thus compares contemporary authors whose work has significant implications for the philosophical thematization of music, namely T. W. Adorno, G. Gadamer, M. Heidegger, but more particularly L. Wittgenstein.
The article thus provides a unified perspective on this rare reflection on music. A contemplative object par excellence, music becomes an intellectual object from which it is possible to deduce a range of ideas, paradigms and examples that reconstruct music as an expression of thought. The article thus presents itself as an opening towards new reflections on the artistic object, considered with both naturalness and intellectual depth.
