Abstract

Throughout history, sport and religion have walked hand in hand since their origins. Heracles in ancient Greece and the Olympic and Paralympic athletes today symbolize personal improvement and the fight to be the best in great competitions where the limits of the human body are tested. Thus, the Olympic motto “Citius, Altius, Fortius” emphasizes these inclinations. Taking into account that, together with this motto that personifies the aspirations of the athletes participating in the Games, the Olympic Charter places human dignity at the center of its work, we will analyze how the religious factor, the use of Artificial Intelligence, and new technologies are combined in Modern Games today through respect for human dignity and the human body.

Elena García-Antón Palacios, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Madrid, España.

Doctora en Derecho por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Profesora de Derecho Eclesiástico del Estado en la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. Ha colaborado en diversos proyectos de I+D+I y actualmente está integrada en el Proyecto “La gobernanza global del deporte. Lex Sportiva y autonomía. Del Soft Law a los derechos”, financiado por el Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación de España. Durante 2022 realizó una estancia de investigación postdoctoral en la Facultad de Derecho de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (Chile) y ha formado parte de la Escuela Universitaria Real Madrid-UE como Directora del MBA - Master`s Degree in Sports Management.
