Abstract

The book is a compilation of several works edited by Viviana Suñol and Raquel Miranda. The text aims to vindicate the studies on ancient thought in the Spanish language. For this reason, it brings together works by different specialists from Latin America. The book has eleven chapters, preceded by a prologue by Sinnott and an editor's introduction. The thematic axes chosen are ethics, rhetoric, art, and education. As Suñol and Miranda point out, this last axis, education, is, in a way, transversal, the one that allows bringing together in a whole the different contributions of the researchers involved. The reason for this is that “the questions of how to educate the citizen and how to accustom children to acquire the values of the polis” are recurring issues throughout the book (Suñol and Miranda, 2020, p. 26).

Claudia Seggiaro es licenciada y Doctora en Filosofía por la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Es Investigadora Adjunta del Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET). Es Docente de Historia de la filosofía antigua de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras- Universidad de Buenos Aires y de Introducción al pensamiento científico Ciclo Básico Común- Universidad de Buenos Aires. Su área de especialización es la filosofía antigua, especialmente, el pensamiento de Aristóteles. Autora de artículos en revistas especializadas en filosofía griega clásica, en su mayoría sobre distintos aspectos de la filosofía aristotélica.
