El primer objetivo de este escrito es evidenciar cómo Aristóteles acepta laaplicación del principio de tercero excluso y de bivalencia en enunciadossobre futuro contingente. La principal consecuencia de esto, contra lasposturas trivalentes, es que enunciados sobre futuro contingente no tienenvalor de verdad indeterminado: son o verdaderos o falsos. Se analizandiversas posturas indeterministas con el objetivo de evidenciar cómoestas dependen de una tesis implausible: i) que la aplicación del principiode tercero excluso y de bivalencia en enunciados sobre futuro deriva endeterminismo. Se propone que el indeterminismo que puede atribuirse a estosenunciados es epistémico, no alético: Un sujeto S no conoce en un tiempot previo a t1 el valor de verdad de enunciados sobre futuro contingente.
